Fundación Atresmedia

Devoted to childhood and youth

Fundación Atresmedia, the corporate foundation of the Atresmedia Group, contributes to promoting Media and Information Literacy (AMI), implementing intervention and awareness-raising initiatives through which children and young people, with the involvement of their families and the educational community, develop their media, information and digital skills.  This enables them to carry out a critical analysis of the media and all the information they receive, create and share, as well as a healthy and responsible use of devices, in order to facilitate their personal and civic development within the framework of the information society.

Through its initiatives, Fundación Atresmedia also aims to make society reflect on the fundamental importance of guaranteeing the right of children and young people to access quality information and to give them useful tools so that they can develop basic skills such as critical thinking, curiosity, responsible creativity or values, which enable them to protect themselves from the risks of the digital environment and to be critical and free citizens.

Its main projects are:

- MIL Effect: This project aims to promote the positive use of social media and show young people how the content they create and share on social media can have a positive impact when it is based on the use of critical thinking, responsible creativity and collaboration. Thus, through a video of less than 1 minute for Instagram or Tik Tok, participants aged between 16 and 25, using their creativity, talent and their own tools, are challenged to raise awareness on networks about the risks and opportunities of digital environments.

- Mentes AMI: A project aimed at teachers and educational centres that promotes the development of media, information and digital skills in the classroom through two complementary actions: A call for awards to promote, recognise and disseminate educational initiatives developed in classrooms that foster critical thinking, responsible creativity, digital skills and values, and a large annual educational meeting of knowledge and inspiration aimed at teachers, to contribute to the development of skills and competences related to AMI and provide them with tools for their application in the classroom through presentations, debates and experiences of professionals from different fields.

- Amibox: Educational audiovisual content, hosted on atresplayer and YouTube, aimed at young people (AMIBOX) and children (AMIBOX Kids), their families and educators, to help them broaden their knowledge of the world of media, information and devices. Likewise, Fundación Atresmedia has developed AMIBOX-Aula, a free interactive platform for educational use that allows teachers to work with their students on most of the media, information and digital skills foreseen in Primary and Secondary Education, through learning situations, activities and complementary materials with the Amibox videos, and to assess their development.

- Amiflash: Short contents, starring young journalists from the Atresmedia Group, which are produced and disseminated on the social networks on a weekly basis, where current issues are addressed, integrating knowledge of the media, information management and the advances and risks that arise in the digital world.
Likewise, Fundación Atresmedia, on its own or in collaboration with other entities, carries out and disseminates awareness campaigns through which it seeks to involve society and young people in the construction of a safe digital environment and in the critical, healthy and responsible use of information and devices.
